Candlebark Hill is situated on 40 hectares of hilly countryside, in the locality of Billywillinga, just 19 km. from Bathurst – an easy 20 minute drive, on sealed roads.

There are broad-acre farms around us, producing fine wool, and some beef cattle, while some of the old properties have been divided into hobby farms of between 2 and 50 hectares.

The City of Bathurst
First settled in 1815, Bathurst is Australia`s oldest inland settlement. Gold was discovered in the area in 1851, resulting in Australia`s first gold rush. By 1852, the town had 50 hotels – one for every 100 people! These days, the ratio is somewhat healthier, as are the inhabitants!

Bathurst is a thriving, vibrant town , with a population of about 30`000 – large enough to offer a range of high quality services, and small enough to have a strong sense of community. A wide choice of good cafes and restaurants, a 5 screen cinema, the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre – host to many of the country`s finest performers of music, drama and dance; two lawn bowling clubs, a bowling alley, Olympic standard aquatic centre – indoor and outdoor pools; an excellent art gallery, the wonderful Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum, historic homes and gardens, and much much more.

The town has many examples of 19th century public architecture, and innumerable examples of19th and early 20th century domestic architecture, from charming little cottages, and substantial town houses, to grand country mansions in spacious grounds.

With four distinct seasons, it`s a great climate to live in. We are fortunate to be only 20 minutes drive from Bathurst, a small (37,000) but vibrant city, full of history. Our farm sits in beautiful rural surroundings, at about 800 metres above sea level, with panoramic views back to town.
